New Favorite Lipstick!

For me, a trip to Sephora can take eons. Okay maybe not eons, but long enough. My recent venture into Sephora allowed me to purchase (and fall in love) with a new lip color. I had never bought a Sephora Collection lipstick before so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but after using it for a couple of weeks, I definitely have to say it may be one of my favorites so far!
I know with lip colors, especially ones with more pigment, it is hard to decide what is too bold to wear as an everyday lip. This color is light enough to pass as work appropriate, but still bright enough to make my face pop. I like how matte it is and how easily it applies. It’s pretty long lasting, and though I could definitely reapply halfway through the day to make it look brighter, it still has enough of a tint by the end of the day that my lips don’t look completely bare.

My only qualm about this lipstick is the packaging. When I bought it, I loved that the tube was longer and narrower than usual because it was easier to apply than a fatter lipstick. Unfortunately I went to open it some time last week and the entire stick fell out of the tubing. It was an easy enough fix to pick up the stick and push it back into the casing, but I think that it could have been designed a little better to avoid such a situation.
Despite this, I think that if you’re in the mood to buy a new lip color you should definitely check this one out!xO K

Summer Lipstick!

Now that summer is moving along (too quickly for my taste), I would like to share with you some of my personal summer lipstick essentials! For me, summer’s a time to bring out bold, bright colors that I normally wouldn’t wear during the rest of the year!

1. Bold lip color!

When I went on vacation back in March, I shared with you my “pretending it’s summer, fun new color” to wear in the Caribbean. Well now that it’s actually summer, I’m wearing this color all the time! Not only is it perfect for everyday wear, it can also be worn on nights about the town. A lot of ladies tend to wear various shades of red when they go out but this violet is a new summery take on the same bold look!

Here is Rimmel’s Moisture Renew Lipstick in “Violet Pop” on my lips:

2. Light lip color!

Now that I’ve mentioned my bold lip color, I have to add that there’s a subtle alternative that is still fun for the summer. Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick in “Berry Rich” is the perfect pink for my skin tone, without looking too light or tacky. It’s also very creamy and it long lasting, so it’s perfect for on-the-go summer days!

Spring Break Essentials!

The time has come for sun, sand and margaritas! Spring Break 2013 is upon us, and since I’ll be traveling, I’ve decided to share some of my travel essentials with all of you! It’s always hard to decide what you will take with you, and what you’ll have to leave behind. Between toiletries, jewelery, outfits, and makeup, I’d fill up ten bags if I could! After weeding out what I will ABSOLUTELY need, and what I can live without, I’ve compiled a list of things I know I will suffer without.

1. Sunscreen! Since I’m brown, I tend not to experience the agony of sunburn (lucky for me). I do however, turn black after minimal exposure to the sun, and while I love getting tan, I want to do it safely, as everyone should! After much trial and error, I’ve found that Loreal Sublime Sun Advanced Sunscreen (SPF 50) is the perfect sunscreen for me. It feels less like the thick sunscreen I’ve used before, and more like a cooling lotion.

2. Face cream! My face tends to stay on the dry side, and I’ve always had a hard time finding a good face cream to use. My mom picked up Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer, and I fell instantly in love! It’s a little bit tinted, and isn’t thick, so it’s perfect for daily use. It keeps my face looking bright and healthy all day, and I only have to use it once. I decided that this is one thing I HAVE to take with me.

3. Lipstick! Since it’s Spring Break, and I’m pretty much pretending it’s already summer, I bought myself a fun new color to wear on vacation. I’ve been experimenting with alot of bright, fun colors, like reds, pinks, and berries. My new color, Rimmel’s Moisture Renew Lipstick in “Violet Pop” is the perfect mix of pink and purple, and is casual enough for day wear, but will definitely spice up a night on the town.

I will definitely post more pictures as the week progresses!
