Cleaning your Makeup brushes

It is important to clean your makeup brushes every so often. Just think about the oils and days of makeup that have piled up on those bristles. I know that I sometimes put off cleaning my brushes because they take forever to dry, and I know I’ll need to use them sooner, but cleaning them is a must. It takes about a minute tops to clean each brush, and once you begin the process and see the amount of makeup that comes off, you’ll WANT to clean them everyday!

The shampoo I use for my brushes is Sephora Brush Shampoo. It is a couple of years old, but is practically the same as Sephora Purifying Brush Shampoo.

All you really have to do with this brush cleaner is:

1. Thoroughly spray the bristles with shampoo

2. Wipe off all makeup on a clean cloth (I use paper towels) till nothing wipes off

3. Rinse the bristles thoroughly

4. Shape the brush accordingly

5. Lay flat to dry

Simple enough right? You’ll be amazed how much comes off a powder brush you use maybe three times a week after about 3 weeks since your last wash. Β It’s actually kind of scary. If you have sensitive skin I suggest washing your brushes once a week, otherwise you can wash them every two weeks. If you use brushes to apply liquid makeup (foundation, concealer, cream blush, etc.) try to wash them more often.
